(That's unusual, particularly with 38 year-old exploitation films.) Ernst Hoffbauer and Walter Boos' peculiarly wholesome Schulmädchen-Report series was, after the Emmanuelle films, the most popular "mainstream" erotic film series of the classic era. The Schulmädchen movies are classic old school exploitation films, in that they pretend (tongue somewhat in cheek) to be quasi-journalistic studies of serious issues of concern to today's parents. Of course, the only issue of concern is the erotic antics of young adults, documented with wit and style in a manner not unlike a sexed up version of "Love Boat." Mixed in are real interviews with real people on the street about their attitudes toward these pressing issues. "The sexy box-office smash hit of 1970 makes its U.S. DVD debut from Impulse Pictures. These German girls in the big city of Munich have magically become AMERICAN girls visiting Paris or someplace. where's the Eiffel tower? All acting credits on this American print are fake, which is par for the course with sexploitation imports. Too bad, because the fake credits obscure the fact that Christina Lindberg is in the film, as a girl who comes to Munich to be a bust-out prostitute catering to the creepiest old guys available. This string of sexy vignettes is seedier than most of the series, and that's a good thing. | | | 1983 saw two big budget handsome costume dramas starring Ushi Karnat as the notorious Tsarina Katherine the Great: "Katharina und ihre wilden Hengste" and "Katharina die Sadozarin." Both are attributed to the pseudonym Scott Hunt. It seems likely that the real director was Ernst Hoffbauer, esspecially since he was making "Rasputin - Orgien am Zarenhof," his porn version of the life of Rasputin, at the same time and also with Ushi Karnat. It is difficult to say where "Wilden Hengste" stops and "Sadozarin" begins, or visa versa. So let's just say the the combined sex epic of Katherine the Great, one of the handsomest adult films of its kind, is contained in the two Herzog KATHARINA volumes, of which this is the second. Uschi Karnat (Sandra Nova) stars in this classic German period-piece porno set during the 1700's.
